“We had a year filled with new experiences, challenges and accomplishments. In February we travelled to the Philippines for the wedding of Hani’s cousin (picture on the left). Knowing the Odyssey team was more than capable of caring for the practice and the needs of our clients, we were able to spend quality time together as a family. On our trip, in between the family and the fun, Gabby diligently studied for her first Academic Decathlon. Her focus and commitment paid off as she took 3rd place in her individual subject, and her team took 5th place overall (best in School History)! Gabby also joined and completed her first season in club volleyball this year. Kristiana completed her second season on the swim team at JSerra, and swam in her first varsity competition this year! During Thanksgiving break, Kristiana also had the honor and the opportunity to fundraise for and join her school on a mission trip to Peru. Lastly, for all of you animal lovers, Hani ran her first 10K in an effort to raise money for “K9 Spirit Rescue Organization”. Thankful to all of you for your trust, confidence, and support throughout the year…looking forward to 2018!”

“2017 has been an incredible year of new experiences and self-development. Travel has always been one of my biggest passions. In March I traveled to Cuba and enjoyed the unique culture, music, and beautiful beaches. I also had the opportunity to travel to Chicago for the first time and explore the city. In mid-2016 I first tried Yoga and instantly fell in love with it. The combination of physical exertion, meditative and mindful focus on form, and deep breathing keeps me in a peak physical and mental state, which allows me to be as focused as possible. I read 26 books ranging from business focused like the 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing by Al Ries and Jack Trout, to personal development focused like PsychoCybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, to fiction for fun like The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac.”

“2017 has been a year of great memories and fun times with friends & family. This year marked my 4th year with the Odyssey Wealth Design team and I officially joined The Resource Group, an invitation-only nationwide network of established financial planners. I have been able to enjoy many trips with my family and loved ones. In May, I went to a wine safari; and fed zebras and giraffes in Malibu. During the summer I went wine tasting in Napa, and attended the Del Mar Horse Races in San Diego. In September, I saw lava come out of an active volcano and night snorkeled with manta rays on the Big Island of Hawaii. These truly incredible experiences have led me to have an exciting year. I am excited to see what the New Year has in store for our practice!”

“2017 was a year of major growth for me, personally and professionally. Professionally, my team was the inaugural winner of the Ted T. Santon 5 Star Team Award, given by Lincoln. Our team was fortunate enough to spend a weekend together at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. It was the experience of a lifetime! Our staff advanced in their knowledge this year (Jenny is studying for her California Life and Health License and Edgar became a fully licensed registered assistant). I have also been studying to obtain my CRPC designation (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor) to better serve our clients. Personally, it’s been an exciting year for my family as well with my son, Aidan, making the honor roll all year and maintaining a 4.0 GPA and my daughter, Marceline (“Cece!”) starting preschool! Can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!”
Edgar Ruiz - Paraplanner
“2017 was a year full of personal/professional growth and 1st time experiences. I became a fully licensed registered assistant, and am currently working toward getting my Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA®) designation. A notable highlight of my year was spending the weekend at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel with our whole team, as Odyssey Wealth Design was the inaugural winner of the Ted T. Santon 5 Star Team Award. It was a surreal experience. Lastly, I am very pleased to say that this year I have been able to consistently focus on other personal interests such as: basketball, photography, and Latin dance. I am eager to continue my personal/professional growth in 2018, and reach new heights as a team.”

“For me, 2017 has been a great learning experience both professionally and personally. I have had triumphs and failures this year and I have definitely learned from them. Some of my most memorable highlights were winning the Ted T. Santon 5 Star Team Award and getting to celebrate with our team, passing my 3 year anniversary with Odyssey Wealth Design, and purchasing a brand new car for the very first time! I also celebrated my 21st birthday, was able to invest more time focusing on school and spending time with my family!”
Mariah Phankonsy - Marketing/
Administrative Assistant
“2017 has been challenging in a very good way! I passed my one-year anniversary working with the team. I completed my last semester at Irvine Valley College, will be obtaining my Associates Degree in Communications, and will be starting at Cal State Fullerton in the beginning of 2018! I was able to go to eight concerts this year, and see bands/artists I love. I also went camping (or rather “survived”) for the very first time at the Mojave River Forks Regional Park. I have enjoyed growing in my role and gaining more responsibilities, and I am very excited to continue growing professionally and personally in 2018!"
Brian Eccles – Intern
“This past year has been the most jam packed year of my life because I wanted to graduate early by taking extra classes during the summer and in the fall at Cal State Fullerton. The classes I have been taking the past year are centered on finance with supporting classes in statistics and economics. Aside from school, working as an intern for Odyssey Wealth Design has provided amazing learning opportunities, one of which is an intern conference in San Ramon, CA. The conference was a highlight of my year because it was an opportunity to learn so much about financial advising in a short amount of time. Some other highlights of my year are turning 21 and having my adopted dog for 1 year.”
